PixelVibe Guide — Getting Started
PixelVibe is a browser-based tool that converts any image into pixel art. This guide walks you through the complete workflow.
Use Cases
- Convert AI-generated images into game-ready pixel art assets
- Apply retro pixel style to profile images and SNS content
- Pixelate images directly in the browser without Aseprite or Photoshop
STEP 1: Upload Image
Drag and drop an image onto the stage, or click to select a file. Supports PNG, JPG, WebP, and all common image formats. Free users support up to 1080px, Pro users up to 4096px.
STEP 2: Adjust Grid Size
Use the Grid Size slider in the Settings panel. Smaller values (1-2) preserve detail, medium values (4-8) create a balanced pixel look, larger values (16-64) produce a bold retro style. Use [ and ] keys for quick adjustment.
STEP 3: Choose Palette
Select from 7 built-in palettes: Original (all colors), PICO-8 (16 colors), GameBoy (4 colors), NES (54 colors), Grayscale (8 colors), CGA (4 colors), or Nyandigo (8 colors). Pro users can upload custom .hex palette files.
STEP 4: Preview & Compare
Switch between Source (1), Pixelized (2), and Split (3) view modes. Use Z/X to zoom, F to fit screen, G to toggle grid overlay.
STEP 5: Edit Mode
Press E to enter edit mode. Use Pencil to draw and Eraser to clear pixels. Palette mode uses palette colors, Original mode provides an HSV color picker. Supports Ctrl+Z undo (30 steps) and Ctrl+Y redo.
STEP 6: Export
Configure Frame (Original or Square) and Scale (1x-16x) in the Export panel. Press Ctrl+E to download as transparent PNG.
